Many of you may not know that Salem Area Chamber of Commerce
member David Turner of Turner Software & Services LLC
is also a musician. He can be heard playing the French Horn
in several venues around Salem, including the Willamette
Master Chorus, Festival Chorale Oregon, St. Paul’s Episcopal
Church, the Cherry City Wind Quintet, Pacific Brass, and the
Salem Concert Band. The Salem Concert Band will open their
2004-05 season on October 31 at the Historic Elsinore
Theater with a special tribute concert titled THE
GREATEST GENERATION. David gave us the following
information about the concert.
“Our season theme this year is
30 YEARS OF GREAT MUSIC!
John McMannus, special guest conductor for one of our
marches was our charter conductor when the band was formed
30 years ago. John McMannus was also a bomber pilot in WWII.
His bomber was shot down on three different missions.”
THE GREATEST GENERATION concert is dedicated to all
WWII Veterans. The Salem Concert Band will perform a world
premier of an Overture for band, yet to be named, written in
honor of those who served. Vocal soloist for this concert is
Chris Fletcher. Chris will sing a great rendition of the
beautiful ballad Someone to Watch Over Me written by
Gershwin. She will also do several songs with the band in a
medley of Musical Memories from World War II.
Clarinet soloist Sgt. Cherylanne Branning from the 234th
Army National Guard Band will perform Concerto for
Clarinet by Martin Ellerby and Theme from
"Schindler's List" written by John Williams. In a
tribute to the Armed Forces, the band has scheduled the
songs from each service branch.
If you know a WWII Veteran who would like to attend the
concert on October 31, have them contact the Salem Concert
Band by phone, e-mail or regular mail. They have a limited
number of special complimentary tickets they are giving to
veterans. The tickets will be issued on a first request
basis. For more information on the concert season, visit
their website at

Salem Resident's Web Site To Debut on FreeServers
Network
(Salem, Oregon) -- Taking advantage of
the free web space and web site building tools offered
by FreeServers (http://freeservers.com),
Salem resident David Turner has created "Turner Software
& Services" (turnersoftwareandservices.com),
a site devoted specifically to computer software. Turner
uses his web site to provide Windows software, custom
applications, and training for Windows applications.
Turner has chosen FreeServers for web
site hosting primarily because of the unlimited e-mail
forwarding, FrontPage support, and free initial startup.
Turner, like many small businesses, families, and
individuals, is turning to free web providers like
FreeServers to easily and quickly establish an Internet
presence without the traditional expenses and risks
involved in building a web site. Not only does
FreeServers charge no monthly fees for free custom
domain names, but FreeServers also provides tools that
enable anyone, regardless of experience or Internet
savvy, to create a professional-looking web site in
minutes. They can then easily update and add cool new
features to their site from month to month without
having to pay a professional web design company or ISP's
high design, hosting, and maintenance fees.
Savvy surfers like Turner have already
established their web spaces on FreeServers, and the
word has been spreading fast. All anyone has to do is go
to
http://signup.freeservers.com, fill out a
quick sign up form, and then start building a web site.
Word of mouth seems to be letting the secret out
quickly. FreeServers currently offers members custom
domain names, and a host of site building and promotion
tools all with no setup fee and no monthly charges.
Turner is very happy with the service and hopes to stay
with FreeServers to take advantage of new features as
they come, and encourages other Salem residents who have
wanted to have their own web site to use FreeServers as
well. Now a veteran at using the FreeServers website
tools, Turner is willing to share knowledge and
experience with other Salem residents who are interested
in building their own web sites. Although you can
already visit the site, "Turner Software & Services"
will officially launch on May 1, 2004. Turner invites
all Salem residents to come and help celebrate the
launch, and to check out the great computer software
related content on the web site. To go to Turner
Software & Services, simply type "turnersoftwareandservices.com"
into your web browser. For those interested in creating
a free FreeServers web site right away, type "http://signup.freeservers.com". |
